Life & Blog update
Hey everyone! I know I have not blogged in forever! I have been so busy with traveling and learning new skills, but I am really wanting to get more into blogging! I was actually thinking about making a post or a video about becoming a UX designer in the near future, comment below or tweet me (@Elenag7200) if you would like to see that!
So many exciting things happened in the past couple of months. Lots of life changes and it has been a hectic months with doing a UX design program in London, packing and moving back to Athens, where –fingers crossed– I will soon be able to utilize my digital skills in a company there. I really can’t say more at this moment but I promise I’ll tell you everything in less than a month.
There are several other projects and partnerships blog concerning going on as well but I will of course inform you when it is the right time…
At this moment I write this post I am neither in Athens nor in London but I am in Arta -my hometown- and I am here because it’s Christmas and I visit my family for the holidays.
However, from now on I will definitely try to post one to two blog posts every week. I have many new ideas but I always wants to hear your ideas so please don’t be shy and share your thoughts with me here below or on my Facebook page @elenastravelsblog
What have you been up to lately?
Let me know in the comments below

So, without further ado … THANK YOU SO MUCH Giorgos of traveldefinition.com who nominated me for this award. He has a really cool blog worth having a look. Check out his blog and see for yourself!!!
Here are my answers to Giorgos’ interesting questions…..
1.Which is the most memorable country you have visited?
England, no question about it. I instantly fell in love with the country and go back there in every given chance. I have lived in England for more than 5 years and I would be happy if I could live there for good.
2. You meet someone that does not like the idea of traveling, what do you say to him?
I don’t really say much to them. People are different. Some people like to stay home, others like to travel. Of course I feel they are missing out on so much because travelling opens your eyes and lets you see the world in a new light. It is such an educational experience. But I don’t really feel like changing people, making them do stuff they don’t like to.
3. What kind of traveler are you?
An adventurer. Road trips, roundtrips, city trips. I love it all, but never in a group. Where tourists go left, I go right.
4. So far in your life, have you ever wanted to stay somewhere and never come back home?If yes where and why?
Yes, absolutely, on my first sailing experience last summer in Ionian. I didn’t want this trip to end and I would love to be able to sail more in the future.
5. What was the first trip that made you love traveling?
I guess it was in my blood. My parents took my sister and me in a road trip from Greece to Italy, Switzerland and France, and later I took off in the big wide world myself and got addicted to travelling ever since.
6. If you were to spend the last day alive, how will you spend it?
Never think of it but I will probably spend the whole day hanging around with my lovely lab puppy Joey, my boyfriend and closed family members.
7. Which is the worst memory you have while traveling?
Now that is a hard question. I am a very positive person and most negative experiences are really not so bad if you have the right mindset. Any bad thing happening on your travels will become a good story sooner or later. I am very good at remembering the positives and forget about the negatives. But definitely my worst memory is when I was in Crete for a Greek wedding in 2008 and saw a young boy that had a very serious motorbike accident – he was lying dead on the edge of the road-. So, please be super careful when driving and don’t drink and drive.
8. Which is the best memory you have while traveling?
The best memory when travelling is when I am on the airport and wait for my journey to begin. I love watching other passengers pass by and dream my trip…
9. What was the most delicious food you have tasted outside your country?
Italian pizza is the BEST pizza I’ve had in my entire life . Apparently, Italy is a zillion levels above the rest of the world.
10. If you were to go somewhere tomorrow, where would it be and why?
Such an easy question! My answer is of course England. 🙂 But I need to see other places as well. Anywhere I haven’t been really. Australia is high up on my list right now, so is United States of America. So if someone gave me a ticket to wherever tomorrow I guess I would flip a coin between those 2 continents. If you ask me next year I would probably say England.
11. What is your belief in life?
I am not religious or anything like that. I believe we have this life and this life only, when we die that’s it. So all we have to do is to make the most of the life we have, live in the moment, enjoy ourselves. It could all be over tomorrow, I want to experience as much as I can before I die.
In no particular order, I am nominating the following bloggers for the Sunshine Blogger Award.
- Catie from A Postcard Home
- Sven from Svenywhere

This is the list of my 16 favourite items in 2016 that I used under 50€ as a travel blogger.
These silicone make up lotion bottle are perfect for putting small amounts of shampoo, face and body lotion, skin cream and shower gel and most suitable for outdoor travel, business trip, vacation and everyday carry as it is easy to put into your makeup bag or even your bag. They are very easy to clean and refill.
You can use it in most countries and it comes with 2 push switches at the flank for releasing different types of plugs. A LED light indicates charging status and it is compact, and easy to carry, that makes it ideal for charging your laptop, your camera or phone and other electronic devices
This camera backpack is the best choice for travellers who love shooting photos just like me that we are seeking superior weather protection in a comfortable and functional shoulder bag. It is very practical and attractive and it is a great option to protect your equipment from moisture and dust as well as rain. The dividers are adjustable, it has pockets on each side for an umbrella, bottle or sunglasses and there is of a soft protective material. You can adjust its shoulder straps so as to fit your body size for easy and comfortable transport
As I am an organised freak, I am in love with this carry on travel bag; it is a must if you like to organise and store your necessities, such as cosmetics, toiletries, mobile phone, keys, notebooks etc. It is designed with multiple compartments to classify and store your personal stuff and it folds up for easy storage and travel. You can hang it inside a garment bag, a bathroom door or towel hook as it is waterproof. Its capacity is huge as it has 4 sections and 6 pockets. For me, the only negative thing about it is that it is made of nylon and I don’t really like nylon but it is washable.
Luggages are one of my favourite things in this world and definitely love this specific one because of its large carrying capacity. You can load it at about 30kg and it is still very flexible to move as it has 4 wheels and it is very lightweight even with heavy loads. It has an ergonomic soft handle and it comes with code lock so your valuables will be protecting.
I am so in love with this pouch case as I keep all my cables, usb flash drive, memory cards, disk, power bank and power adapters inside my bag without being a mess in the bag and avoiding any damages or scratches. It is also made of waterproof material so I am not afraid to put a bottle of water in my bag next to this pouch case.
I used this case cover a lot during sailing on my summer holidays because of its high-security performance waterproofing system. Besides waterproof, this case can also help to protect camera from snow, sand and dust. Moreover, it is very easy to carry as it is equipped with a string and it can float, so you do not have to worry about it falling into the water. Lastly, it is made of PVC.
This backpack is waterproof, wearable and portable with chest belt and waist belt, easy to fix the backpack on your body and reduce the pressure on your back; it is specially designed with mesh and sponge in the back.
Plus, it has a lot of space and makes it easy to organise your items with network pockets on both sides, convenient to put into bottle, umbrella or other items
A great and very useful thing when you do not want to sit on an unsanitary public toilet. It allows women of all ages to urinate in a standing up or sitting down position. It is very convenient, easy to use as it is portable and reusable (re-washable) and it is an ideal accessory for travel, driving, backpacking, camping, hiking, walking, mountaineering, etc.
10. Practical Emergency First Aid Kit Travel Sport Survival Rescue Treatment Kit with Bag
A First Aid Kit is always needed for any unexpected emergencies. This one comes with a carrying bag which makes it convenient to carry on your bag.
11. 300Mbps Wireless Travel Router Intelligent WiFi Repeater Bridge USB Network Adapter This mini and portable item is a professional 300Mbps mini WiFi repeater. It solved the common failing of the traditional WiFi router or WiFi products that easily drop the network and make sure the lasting stability to ensure that the WiFi signal is not dropped.
MINI300 is an environmental safe WiFi signal repeater. Its working principle is that at the edges of the original WiFi hot spot signal coverage, the MINI300 that in repeater mode is able to receive weak WiFi signal, and zoom it to be normal and safe strength signal, and after optimisation and error correction processing, to finally achieve the safe signal coverage of doubled extension. This differs from traditional wireless signal amplifier; only amplifies the signal and ignore the wireless security.
Not much too say here. Anyone who is travelling need more than one travel adapter so this one is a great option so you only need one travel adapter (this one!) and you can charge all your electric appliances!!

Your travel experiences can help your career only when you know how to adjust your skills in your resume and build an exceptional resume.
In order to write a killer resume and nail the interview, you should outline what you have learned and how this knowledge will help you on the job.
To get you started, here there are 5 key skills that someone with travel experience should highlight in his/her resume and interview.
1. Your communication skills
Undeniably, someone like you who has many travel experiences, he/she has managed to communicate in many unfamiliar languages and cultures from buying a train ticket to ordering a coffee and meeting so many and different people improved your communication skills so communicating in the workplace will be a piece of cake!
2. Your willingness to think outside of the box
A travel blogger has many stories to tell such as where things didn’t go as planned and what did he/she did to overcome it. Describe a situation that you overcame a crisis or an unexpected situation and demonstrate your ability to adapt quickly and find creative solutions like how to get from your hotel to the airport when the roads are flooded. Any employer would be happy to hire employees with these skills.
3. Your cross-cultural sensitivity and understanding
Travelling abroad means a daily interaction with people of different races, socioeconomic backgrounds and culture. This gives you a greater sensitivity to diversity so you will always be able to find common ground with anyone, appreciate how the differences make your team stronger and have a competitive advantage in getting a job that concern about different languages and cultures.
4. Your time management skills
When travelling, you managed to schedule a weekly or monthly plan in advance taking into account several things. You also create a budget for the selected scheduled plan.
These time and money management skills will help you managing corporate budgets.
5. Your ability to take initiative and work independently
Last but not least, you work hard to plan and save for your big trip. No one was there to supervise or help you, which means that you will be fine taking on projects solo.
